10 Actions to Shape the Future of Education

From April 25-27, 2018, at ASU’s Skysong Innovation Campus in Scottsdale, Arizona, 129 higher education changemakers convened to dream, do, and drive the future of learning in the digital age. An unconference format enabled the free flow of conversation, with common themes emerging and 10 constructive actions coalescing. Each of the 10 actions represents a neighborhood in a greater higher education community that collectively drives innovations to improve student success, collaboration, leadership, next-generation learning environments, and digital fluency.

In June 2018, the ShapingEDU community was opened up for all education changemakers to join one of the neighborhoods with the goal of advancing the calls to action described in the communique. These 10 calls to action represent the ShapingEDU mission, and are fueling community progress while broadening our constituency -- all in service of dreaming, doing, and driving the future of learning. Beginning in late Summer/Fall 2018, these changemakers will begin engaging in an online forum organized by neighborhood within a greater ShapingEDU community; they will be collaborating on strategies to make concrete progress in the 10 Actions. While the call for participation closed July 13, 2018, there will be future opportunities for new changemakers to join. We also kicked off a new online series, ShapingEDU LIVE, to address the 10 Actions and build strategies across Higher Ed. All are welcome to register and attend.
