Graduate College's Virtual Defense Process Yields Positive Results

Like any facet of the learning experience in the time of COVID-19, the thesis or dissertation defense faced an at first uncertain future. As ASU went fully remote in March 2020, more than 200 graduate students were poised to defend their thesis and dissertation. But in reaction to the new modality, the ASU Graduate College quickly leveraged Zoom to allow those students to complete their degrees as planned. The new process in Zoom was well-received, and the Graduate College today announced that the virtual defense process will remain in place for the Fall semester.
