This is a fun opportunity to apply your robotics and AI skills in a fast-paced environment with peers (and future colleagues!) all across Arizona. This technology is being used across all industries and these skills are valuable to you. More on this here.

Teams of 4-5 students will leverage a Sparkfun Jetbot AI Kit powered by NVIDIA Jetson Nano with Amazon Web Services to build and deploy a model that recognizes your school’s mascots or logo. Sign up by yourself, with a friend or a whole team of 4 or 5. See below for rules and skill requirements. 

You will compete against students from Arizona State University, Grand Canyon University, Northern Arizona University,  University of Arizona, Maricopa Community Colleges, Ottawa University of Arizona and the University of Advanced Technology.

First Place - Wins $5,000!

Sparkfun Jetbot

What is a Sparkfun Jetbot AI Kit?

The SparkFun JetBot AI Kit is a robot platform powered by the Jetson Nano Developer Kit by NVIDIA. This SparkFun kit is based on the open-source NVIDIA JetBot! The SparkFun JetBot AI Kit is a great launchpad for creating entirely new AI projects for makers, students and enthusiasts who are interested in learning AI and building fun applications. It’s straightforward to set up and use and is compatible with many popular accessories.

The Jetson Nano Developer Kit offers useful tools like the Jetson GPIO Python library, and is compatible with common sensors and peripherals; including some new python compatibility with the SparkFun Qwiic ecosystem.

Rules: 

  • All participants must be undergraduate students enrolled in one of the Arizona universities or community colleges.
  • One graduate student is allowed on each team. 

Background skills/knowledge requirements:

  • Basic programming skills in Python and/or C++
  • Some knowledge of the embedded system, robot operations, and robot components such as sensors and motors
  • Some experience of using AWS cloud and software
    (EC2 instance P3 for deep learning of models)

Early bird registration deadline: October 15, 2019 

Late registration deadline: November 1, 2019  (Based on availability)

Resources, such as tutorials and training, will be provided upon registration.
