Deputy CIO John Rome Speaks at Amazon Event

Deputy Chief Information Officer of the University Technology Office, John Rome, spoke Monday at the AWS re:Invent conference in Las Vegas. A massive meeting of great technological minds, the Amazon Web Services event addresses innovative new technologies and improvements in existing ones.

Rome represented ASU and its innovative efforts in voice technology, specifically Amazon's Alexa and her compatible devices. During a presentation called "How Voice Technology Is Moving Higher Education to a New Era," Rome, along with Jeff Blankenburg of Amazon and Jared Stein of Higher Ed Strategy, talked about how voice technology and Alexa are specifically being integrated into higher education curriculum, and the benefits of doing so.
