Deborah Whitten is the Assistant Vice President for IT Customer Service and Support in the University Technology Office at ASU. She leads a team of technology professionals responsible for development and support of centralized IT services including deskside and endpoint device management, classroom technologies, audio/visual and enterprise video conferencing solutions, software licensing and distribution, training, service partnerships, and the ASU Help Center.
The mission of the IT Customer Service and Support team is to be a leader and a resource to the university community for consulting, design, deployment, and ongoing operational support of technologies in the higher education environment. Aligning with the institutional directive of “one administration – five campuses”, the Customer Services team seeks to deploy consistent and standardized services to faculty, students, and staff on all ASU campuses and sites.
Deborah brings more than 25 years of higher education experience to ASU from her previous positions at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. She began working at ASU in 2011 as the Assistant Vice President for IT Planning and Program Management in the University Technology Office. In 2015, the UTO realigned to consolidate all customer-facing units into one team to streamline and standardize services to the community.
Deborah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Technology from Purdue University and a Master of Education degree in Higher Education Administration from Arizona State University.
