e-Communications from Lyris with Martha Knight
At the request of the Executive Vice President, Treasurer and CFO, an ad hoc committee was tasked with discerning and identifying methods and/or measures desirable for efficient and cost effective production of internal and external publications by Arizona State University. e-communications management is one recommendation among several to reduce print publication costs and paper waste. After research done on several e-communications management companies and survey results from ASU communicators, a recommendation for implementing an e-communications managements system has been derived. Lyris Inc. has provided the best overall system that incorporates e-mail campaign management, Web analytics and social media analytics in a single system. It is the only company available at this time with all three services in one platform. Committee reviews and survey results indicate the majority of departments are looking for a more robust e-communications system that integrates Web and social media analytics.

Windows 7 OS with Sandy Johnson
Windows 7 Enterprise Edition will become available to the University technical community for testing on ASU owned equipment on Friday, September 11th at 12:01pm. Both Enterprise 32bit and 64bit ISO files will be available for download through My Apps. Desktop users can authenticate their license via the KMS server. Laptop users may get a MAK key by emailing software@asu.edu. In preparation for the Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 release:
- The KMS server has been rebuilt and updated to address Vista, Windows7 and Server 2008 R2
- ASUKMS1 has been properly entered into DNS, so no pointing entry is required (slmgr -skms) as was previously required for Vista
- An alias has been created for ASUKMS so that the existing Vista systems will not have to be re-pointed to the new server
- Both the 32 and 64 bit images have been downloaded and will be available via My Apps
- The HelpTech site has been updated to reflect the changes in activation for windows 7
The general public release date is Tuesday, September 22nd. For questions, please email software@asu.edu.
